MUN in Bangkok, Thailand

Image
By Debby Zunta Part 2:  The way to Bangkok Wednesday, November 13, 2019. I started the trip at 0.30 am. I went by train from Jember to Sidoarjo and then took Gocar to Juanda Airport. Juanda Airport is in Surabaya but nearer to Sidoarjo. About 6.30 am I arrived at the airport. My flight was at 9.50 am. I checked the departure time on the monitor and the gate hadn’t opened at that time. I saw an electronic check in counter, but when I asked the CS, she said it couldn’t work.  Disappointed! This was my first flight to a foreign country. I really got nervous with what would happen to me. I was all alone by myself. I sharpened my eyes and ears to get the right information so as not to get lost. It needed a transit in Singapore at Changi Airport. The transit lasted about 2 and three quarter hours. It was so confusing, you know. Changi Airport in Singapore was so big. It was really awesome to see all of that with so many unfamiliar people. “ Take a deep breath and keep...

A life beyond Dentistry - Travel to Ijen

By Debby Zunta Being an ambitous girl makes me so tired. Compounding it, I am a perfectionist. These characteristics may cause me unpleasant anxiety.   I realize my life is not only for academic pursuit .   I have a family, friends, hobbies and maybe a relationship. Going to new places is always a good thing. It is a sedative for me.   Especially, if you go with your best friends.   T hree of my friends, Aida, Zizil and Sela, have the same interest as me -   vacation. After the e xam of the recent modul e we decided to go to a very well known place in east Java, Ijen.                   O n this trip, Sela invited her high school friends to j oin. They were boys: Fachril, Jimplek, Cekak, Satriyo, and Irsyad. It is da n gerous to go only by ourselves as girls. It needs about two hours to go there.            ...

Scientific Competition in Djakarta, my first flight

Scientific Competition in Djakarta – an added bonus; my first flight in a plane Debby Zunta I am a poor girl. I admit it. My parents are only farmers. I never lie about my parent’s occupation. There is nothing I can hope to get from my parents. If ever I have dreams , I have to endeavor by myself to realize them. Even I  need my parents’ help, they are in no position to give me.  Everything is in my own hands. However I regard myself a lucky girl, because I am able to get what I want through my    effort. I am a girl who has a lot of dreams. But I know dreams can only remain as dreams; if  I don’t make them   becom ing realities.    Flying in a plane is one of my dreams. I want to fly for a reason, not for holiday leisure.   But maybe going places for persentations, scientific meetings and attending seminars. It sounds really great. One afternoon after the pathology class, Ana asked me, “ Deb , would  you join a science compet...
